June 23, 2004

got the first good night's sleep in weeks, at the LaGuardia Marriott. off to Columbus in two hours, and another long week of little sleep.

Pershing called twice last night to verify my identity. it seems that renting a truck at UHaul, hiring a moving company and checking into a hotel registered as suspicious credit card activity. maybe i'm on a terrorist watch list now. a hotel staffer unexpectedly dropped by a toothbrush and mini toothpaste last night.. wonder if there's a camera or listening device hidden inside?

killing time while the movers finish packing up my stuff. leaving on a jet plane tomorrow morning for Columbus OH, where i'll be running games at Origins all week. next Monday i fly to Oakland, and the club opens Tuesday.

thanks for all the goodbye parties, goulash dinners, bar nights, and lunches. thanks to Oliver for helping me pack oversized tvs. all the best to my New York people. it was a great six months!

having just been paid, of course the first thing i did this morning was order a bunch of cds (and McSweeney's, cos this time around it's all comics):

PHARAOH OVERLORD The Battle Of The Axehammer (Live)
SAGOR & SWING Orgelplaneten
SALVATORE Temp
M83 America
MCSWEENEY'S QUARTERLY CONCERN Number 13
MONSTER MAGNET Monolithic Baby!
MORNING SPY Subsequent Light
SATYRICON Volcano
SONIC FLOWER Heavy Sonic & Flower Groove
NARROWS Alligator

also, i paid bills, subscribed to Foreign Affairs, and got tix for me, Elly and Oliver for the Decemberists show at the Bowery Ballroom on Thursday. rounding out the unnecessary list of mundane detail, Netflix arrivals - Ichi the Killer: Special Edition; Walkabout: Criterion Collection; House of Sand and Fog.

ran across this great concert review while scouring the web for instances of the phrase "Seminiferous Tubloidial Butt Noid". this one pretty much speaks for itself.
